Magnificent late 18th/early 19th Century Chanukah Menorah with cast openwork recalling the decoration of papercuts of the period.
Decorated with birds supporting a vase, swans and zoomorphic figures. Retaining original patina.
Cast openwork platform with eight candlesockets.
Cast openwork side pieces with an additional candlesocket to be used along with the Shammas as a pair of candlesticks for lighting on the Sabbath days falling during Chanukah.
Probably Zhitomir (Ukraine), known as a center of fine metalwork. Rare.
